btoy
(from dark alleys to white walls)

Born and raised in Barcelona, Ilia Mayer and Andrea Michaelsson started their street art project under the name of BTOY back in 2002. Their retro fantasies of Hollywood starlets and war heroes took stencil a step beyond and set them apart from the rest.
Ancien city walls led to art galleries, and even though they may not have got all the recognition they deserve yet, it is only a matter of time. Go BTOY!

josep brangulí

Josep Brangulí relentlesly photographed all aspects of Barcelona life in the early Twentieth Century.
Incomprehensibly, Brangulí was virtually unknown until the recent exhibition at the CCCB titled Brangulí Barcelona 1909-1945
Room after room of glorious black and white prints left audiences overwhelmed with so much and so good.
Brangulí deserves a place among the greatest.
Hopefully this retrospective was a first step towards that.

catalina estrada

Catalina Estrada has to be one of the most talented artists in town, and probably the busiest one too.
When she moved to Barcelona she brought with her all the colorful folklore lushness of her native Colombia.
Her good vibes and extremely elaborated eye candy work proved to be irrisistible very quick. It didn't take long for commissions to start rolling in at a fast pace. Institutions, corporations, art gallerys and everyone in between seem to want a piece of her magic.
Her success is certainly no accident and she deserves every bit of it. Don't you agree?
